You can observe Japanese grasshopper(Oxya japonica japonica) on the north side of the big pond at Nagai Botanical Garden. The photo shows an adult female. In conjunction with the insect exhibition, a digital stamp rally is also being held around the pond.
Fireflies are appearing on the Minoh Falls Trail. The number of fireflies is about 42 or less on the entire trail, just like last year. There used to be as many as 300 to 400 fireflies flying around, but that scene is no longer visible. This is the perfect time for those who want to see Minoh Falls and the fireflies. Bring a packed lunch and go for a walk!
Japanese honeybees are more active in the afternoon, while European honeybees are more active in the morning, so you can tell which type of bee they are by the time of day.

This dragonfly turns completely red when it matures, and has brown spots on the tips of its wings. Its found in Hokkaido, Honshu, Shikoku, Kyushu, and their islands. It appears from late June and can be seen until the end of November.
